Leaders that turn over Flies

This video is all about Leader Builds for turning over Large Flies. A few thing to remember: The leader is a continuation of the Fly Line, if the front taper dissipates to much energy you are out of luck regardless of leader selection. Leaders should be short with only 1-2 step downs with enough energy reserves to dump energy into the fly itself. Think 4ft to 6ft or so with 4ft being 2 sections and the 6ft being made up of 3 sections. Sections should have approximately 70% diameter reduction to hep energy dump while transferring energy. The 70% reduction should be paired with the fly lnie, meaning a 9wt rod might run a 30lb butt section, while a 5wt might run a 20lb butt section.

Useful knots: Nail Knot, Loop to Loop, Perfection Loop - Setting up Butt section and Fly Line Connections

Double Uni - Line to Line Diameter Reductions

Non-Slip Loop Knot - Connection to Fly
